About the Conference:

The Faith in Action Conference is a two-day convening bringing together faith leaders, healthcare experts, civil society organizations, and policymakers to address critical public health challenges facing communities across Africa.

With a focus on Maternal & Child health, and Cervical Cancer Prevention, the conference underscores the vital role of faith communities in shaping healthcare delivery and driving equitable, life-saving interventions.

Building on the momentum of the 2024 Nairobi Convening on Cervical Cancer and HPV, this year’s event transitions from dialogue to tangible action; leveraging the trusted voices of faith leaders to advance cervical cancer prevention by increasing HPV vaccination rates, enhancing maternal and child health strategies, and removing barriers to preventive care, especially in underserved regions.

Conference Objectives:

Day 1: Defining the Crisis & Mobilizing Faith Leaders for Action

Objective: Establish a shared understanding of the health crisis, recognize the urgency of faith driven intervention and define commitment areas.

  • Highlight the role of faith leaders in maternal &Child Health, Cervical Cancer Prevention
  • Present data-driven insights on mortality rates, vaccine coverage and missed opportunities
  • Share success stories and challenge from faith led health interventions
  • Address vaccine hesitancy and misinformation
  • Draft initial faith-based action plans for healthcare interventions and vaccine uptake

Day 2: Commitment Formulation & Roadmap to Action

Objective: Transition from discussions to structures commitments and develop a faith- driven action framework for health advocacy and service delivery.

  • Explore financing models and sustainability for faith-based health programs
  • Strategize policy engagement and collaboration with governments
  • Develop roadmap to expand faith-based healthcare services and accessibility
  • Plan mass mobilizing efforts for community engagement a d awareness
  • Finalize a faith leaders declaration outlining commitments to Maternal & Child Health, Cervical cancer prevention and HPV vaccination.

Expected Outcomes:

  1. Action-Oriented Commitments: Faith leaders will commit their institutions towards Cervical Cancer Prevention and Maternal & Child health programs.
  2. Integration of Faith-Based Health Networks: Strengthening collaboration between faith-run hospitals and Government health initiatives to expand healthcare access.
  3. Mobilizing Resources for Healthcare Infrastructure: Faith-based organizations will explore funding mechanisms to scale up their healthcare services.
  4. Interfaith Collaboration for Public Health: Expanding partnerships between Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, and other faith groups to deliver universal health coverage (UHC) and increase community trust in health interventions.
  5. Policy Engagement and Influence: Development of effective, culturally appropriate public health strategies that increase engagement and support from the community.
  6. Strengthened Community Trust: Faith leaders will advocate for policy reforms that integrate faith-based healthcare models into national health strategies.

Faith leaders are uniquely positioned to influence health-seeking behaviors and promote life-saving interventions. This conference is a call to action—moving faith beyond belief into healing, dignity, and advocacy.
