September 5, 2025Strengthening Grassroots Advocacy for Cervical Cancer Elimination Across Africa
The African Cervical Health Alliance (ACHA), with technical support from the ECHO Institute and financial support from Expertise France through the SUCCESS Program, has launched the ACHA Advocacy ECHO program, an eight-month, Pan-African virtual training and capacity-building initiative.
This program is designed to equip Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and health advocates from Anglophone and Francophone Africa with the skills, expertise, and knowledge needed to meaningfully contribute to national and regional cervical cancer elimination efforts.
Why It Matters
Cervical cancer, though preventable, remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in Africa. Many grassroots CSOs, often led by survivors and caregivers, are deeply committed to ending this disease. However, they continue to face challenges such as:
- Limited training in policy engagement
- Unclear advocacy frameworks
- Sporadic resource mobilization
- Inconsistent communication
The ACHA Advocacy ECHO Program seeks to bridge these gaps and build stronger, more coordinated advocacy across the continent.
A Transformative Learning Model
Grounded in the Project ECHO model, the program seeks to provide expert-led sessions, mentorship, and peer learning to strengthen the confidence, competence, and coordination of grassroots CSOs. Participants will gain practical skills in policy engagement, coalition building, resource mobilization, media advocacy, and community-led monitoring ensuring that advocacy efforts are strategic, data-driven and impactful.
By fostering grassroots leadership and strengthening advocacy capacity, the ACHA Advocacy ECHO will ensure CSOs are no longer on the sidelines but at the center of national and regional cervical cancer conversations
Join the Movement
The ACHA Advocacy ECHO is an opportunity to scale community-led advocacy, prioritize inclusion and equity, and ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against cervical cancer.
