17th November 2025 marks the 1st World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day, a historic global moment dedicated to accelerating efforts toward ending cervical cancer as a public health problem. This year’s WHO global theme, “Act Now: Eliminate Cervical Cancer,” calls for urgent collective action to protect women and girls worldwide.
In alignment with this global call, KILELE Health Association in partnership with Ultra Runners Kenya and Arch Treks Safaris will stage a remarkable and symbolic challenge: 10 ultra-runners will run up and down Mt. Kenya’s Lenana Peak (15,345 ft) within 10 hours, honoring the 10 women who die every day from cervical cancer in Kenya.
Themed “Summitting Mountains for Cancer Prevention”, this challenge serves as both a tribute and a call to action, urging all sectors to unite toward preventing avoidable cervical cancer deaths through vaccination, screening, and equitable access to care.
Through this initiative, KILELE Health aims to:
Support the KILELE Challenge mission; summit with us in spirit, amplify the cause, and help Kenya Act Now.
